WHAT IGNITED THE SPARK IN YOU TO START A BUSINESS?
To start with, I’m not trying to start a conventional business. Rather I’m trying to build an attitude.
To achieve true creativity, innovation, and to design world-class products, attitude is the most important ingredient. Having worked for more than half a decade in the design industry, I’ve realized that even though we have the skill and knowledge, there is a gap in the attitude required to design successful products. This lead to the formation of Wolffkraft Design Studio.
Which college/university did you choose to complete your studies?
I chose MIT Institute of Design for my Post graduation in Product design.
WHAT ARE THE TOP THREE ADVICE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO GIVE TO YOUNG GRADUATES WHO ASPIRE TO BECOME ENTREPRENEURS?
1. Ideas don’t bring change, Vision does. Have a great vision and then have lots of ideas to support that vision.
2. Believe in yourself first, and then filter the noise, because herd mentality is rampant out there.
3. Have the courage to walk alone, because when you walk on a different path, you usually won’t find many people walking with you.
WHAT IS YOUR CORE PRODUCT OR SERVICE?
Our core service is Digital product design strategy and experience design. We provide design solutions in diverse domains such as healthcare, travel, fin-tech, enterprise B2B products and many more.
WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING THING RELATED WITH YOUR BUSINESS?
Everyday is a new learning. As we cater to diverse domains, getting to know them in depth, understanding different businesses, different users and behaviors, is like a gold-mine to us. This diversity is exciting as you really get to know how products influence different aspects of our lives.
HOW DO YOU DO MARKETING ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS? WHAT HAS BEEN THE SUCCESSFUL FORM OF MARKETING?
As I said, we are building an attitude. To truly experience what it’s like, one needs to work with us. Hence, we rely only on networking and the attention we get with the products that we have delivered.
Other than that, we do have our organisation listed on various social media platforms for people to have a peek at what we do and to keep updated.
CHALLENGES ARE BUNDLED UP ALONG ALL VENTURES, WHAT SORT OF CHALLENGES DID YOU FACE? HOW DID YOU MANAGE UPS AND DOWNS IN ROLLER COASTER RIDE?
Challenges are immense and are diverse in nature. The most pressing ones are:
1. Finding the right talent to create next generation design solutions.
2. As the technology is growing exponentially, the nature of design intervention and processes are rapidly changing, leaving a lot of things obsolete in a very short span of time.
WHO IS YOUR MENTOR OR ROLE MODEL?
My role model is Elon Musk. I am thrilled about what he has achieved in just one lifespan.
I learnt one thing from him, “Either you can do it, or you can’t. Anything between these are pure excuses.”
WHAT ARE THE FACTORS YOU KEEP IN MIND WHILE HIRING THE RIGHT PEOPLE IN YOUR ORGANIZATION
I believe in people having a right attitude, irrespective of the roles and responsibilities that they have for a job. Attitude is the only thing that I prioritize while hiring, as skill is something that one can pick up with some effort.
WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF SUCCESS FOR YOU? HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF?
I believe success and failure is subjective and overrated. I don’t really think about what would success mean. I have a vision, with which I have started Wolfkraft and I am focused towards moving in the right direction.
WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON COMPETITORS?
That’s tricky! Other companies providing design services are doing great work as per their vision. I am competing with myself in the quest to build the right attitude in the design industry.
BIGGEST RISK YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN? HOW DID YOU MANAGE THAT RISK FACTOR?
Every decision taken can be termed as risk. But once it is planned and carefully structured, it becomes a plan. Therefore, I wouldn’t say that I ever took a risk.
WHICH IS THE MOST INSPIRING BOOK FOR YOU? OR EITHER WAY ROUND, WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
There are many books that inspire me. I am an avid reader and love to consume knowledge on variety of topics. One book that comes to my mind instantly is – “Black Box Thinking” – by Matthew Syed
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR COMPANY CULTURE?
It’s quite early to state our culture upfront. We are still building it as we are a young company. On a high level we are building a team of creatives, which is fearless, has unconventional thinkers and disruptors, and crafts the future responsibly.
WHAT SACRIFICES YOU HAD TO MAKE TO BE AN SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR?
I am very confident and take pride in the decisions that I have made throughout my journey. So, no sacrifices.
IF YOU HAD GOT THE CHANCE TO START THE CAREER AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
I would have started much earlier and wouldn’t mind failing more often as that would have given me a rich learning of the domain, early on.
HOW LONG DO YOU STICK WITH AN IDEA BEFORE GIVING UP?
If I believe in an Idea and I am sure about picking it up in the first place, I never give up.
